The Fire is strong with this week’s cards! We’ve recently had pairs of Air suit and Water suit cards in the cards for the week, and apparently now we’re moving on to Fire.
Of all the suit elements, I feel most strongly connected with Fire, in both good and bad ways. I can be very driven and passionate, but that can lean into the obsessive if I’m not careful. I do seem to be able to “infect” other people with my passions, which is helpful if I’m trying to motivate a group of people on a project.
What’s your relationship with Fire? Is it similar to your relationships with Water, Air, and Earth, or different? Do you have a favorite element, one that you feel most connected with?
Fire is different from the other elements in some ways. Water, Air, and Earth are parts of the world around us — steady parts, if you like, even if they’re not all solid. Fire is, perhaps, more of a process or an action than a thing. Of course, all four of them — Fire, Air, Water, Earth — can be methods of becoming. After all, Earth, Air, and Water can and do move, sometimes in catastrophic ways, as recent weather events have shown us. But to me, Fire is predominantly a method of becoming rather than simply a way of being.
In Ariadne’s Tribe, we’ve based our structure on the three sacred realms of Land, Sky, and Sea, with three mother goddesses, each connected with one of the realms. When we tried to add in Fire as a fourth realm, it just didn’t work. In fact, the idea of Fire as a realm rather than a discrete process in specific locations is kind of frightening. We ended up honoring Fire separately, as a deity in its own right, a goddess we call Ankhiale (ahn-kee-AH-lay).
The fourfold classical element system has become the most common one in the western world. And it certainly works well for Tarot. I enjoy the symmetry of the four Minor Arcana suits. But there have always been other ways of viewing the relationship among the metaphysical elements — the Wuxing, for instance, with its five-element structure.
I like to contemplate the different ways the metaphysical elements can relate to each other, to us, and to the greater world. Do you?
I wish you a week full of passion, drive, and creativity, with your inner Fire bringing you much joy!
This week’s cards:
Two of Daggers: Step into your power! In order to get what you want, you have to be willing to move outside your comfort zone and push back against any obstacles you encounter. Stand up for what you really want, and let your Fire drive you toward it.
Lord of Daggers: It's OK to give in to the temptation to throw yourself headlong into whatever project or situation looks good. Your inner Fire will help you achieve success and will also motivate others. Just be sure to take a step back and carefully consider any decisions you need to make once you're in the middle of things.

Perfect guidance for this week. Thank you, Laura! I haven't got enough Fire in my natal chart so I'll take what's in the Minoan Tarot cards and run with it!
This will be interesting, as I struggle with chronic burnout. It will be a case of using my fire wisely.
