This week's Minoan Tarot cards:
Lady of Horns: Approach situations you encounter this week with all possible patience, delicacy, caution, and tact. Take your time deciding how to handle each situation; don't let yourself be pressured into moving fast.
The High Priest: Pay attention to where your abilities lie and where you truly want to go in life. You have the power and the skills to shape your life the way you want it to be. It will require effort, but it will be worth it.
Well, folks, it looks like we have a new Stalker Card. Our first Stalker Card, the Two of Horns, turned up over and over again in my weekly card draws for more than a year. Then one week last month, it appeared paired with the Lady of Horns. Since then, the Lady of Horns has shown up again — and again today.
Three times is the charm, or perhaps is the hint that we need to pay special attention to this card.
This shift in Stalker Cards suggests to me that the undercurrents of energy that are affecting our lives have shifted subtly. The Two of Horns (the previous Stalker Card) is all about the changes that life throws at us that require us to constantly shift our balance, as if we were standing on the deck of a ship that rocks back and forth with the motion of the waves. It’s about recognizing that change, on every scale, is inevitable, if a bit dizzying.
The Lady of Horns is all about how we deal with those changes.
She has some particular traits that we need to pay attention to: patience, self-control, and deliberation. This card points to the idea of standing back and examining any given situation from every possible angle, then taking your time to come to a decision. Don’t let anyone push you into moving quickly, no matter how much pressure our rush-rush-busy-busy culture puts on you.
The Lady of Horns also takes care to handle every situation she encounters with tact and delicacy. That can be tricky these days, when everyone’s nerves are frayed and responses are on hair-trigger. Ideally, we would draw on that ever-elusive inner peace to help out in this sort of situation.
Practically, setting boundaries (“I’m sorry, but I can’t possibly give you an answer until Friday”) will go a long way toward providing some breathing room. The Lady of Horns assures us that taking our time and being deliberate in our decision-making will generate a much better outcome. I’ll take every little bit of help I can get these days!
This week’s second card — the one from the bottom of the deck that gives us a hint as to how to find joy in these Interesting Times — is a big hitter: the High Priest. You might know this card as the Magician in the Waite-Smith Tarot deck.
Our Minoan High Priest is an accomplished person. He has all four suit signs right there with him, ready to use as needed: Daggers (Fire), Rhytons (Water), Labryses (Air), and Horns (Earth). And he knows how to use them, understands their value and their purpose in his life.
This card is telling you that you know those things, too, even if you don’t think you do. What you think of yourself, your vision of who you are, shapes what you think you’re capable of.
Don’t sell yourself short.
The secret of this card is that you’re probably capable of far more than you think you are.
What do you really want to do with your life? Where do your true abilities lie, especially those you’re afraid to acknowledge?
It takes effort and courage to look past our “programming,” those messages our families, our friends, and society-at-large give us about who we’re allowed to be and what we’re allowed to do.
There is joy in being who we really are and following our dreams. Yes, it takes work. But there is also joy in putting in the effort to become more truly yourself.
So this week, take your time to make your decisions. And while you’re taking time, breathe deeply and remember who you really are.
