This week's Minoan Tarot cards:
Lady of Horns: It's time for patience and caution. Dredge up all the self-control you know you have and use it to approach life situations with delicacy, taking it slowly and deliberately. Rushing or pushing will only make things worse. Don't worry, you won't lose any opportunities if you slow down.
Two of Horns: Life is change. Roll with those changes - go with the flow and don't let the upheaval put you off balance. There will be gains to offset any losses, and the ultimate situation will be for the better.
What an earthy pair — nicely grounding for these ungrounded times.
First of all, we have the lovely Lady of Horns. She reminds us that we can’t always plow ahead full speed. Sometimes we have to slow down, be patient, and refuse to let others pressure us into taking action or making decisions too fast.
We live in a fast-paced world. Sometimes that’s a good thing, like when an ambulance arrives just a couple of minutes after you call for help. But there are plenty of aspects of life, especially our personal lives, that we’ve pushed beyond the safe-and-healthy speed limit.
Anxiety over the state of the world adds to the feeling that we need to push forward as fast as possible, no matter what.
So the Lady of Horns is suggesting that, just for now, we take a breath and slow down. Let things simmer for a bit. Handle life situations gently, tenderly even, instead of forcing forward motion.
She assures us that we won’t lose out if we take the slower, gentler route. In fact, chilling out will net us a better result than plowing forward. I realize that’s not the message that our FOMO world sends us on a daily basis, but sometimes sitting still is indeed the better choice.
This week’s second card reminds us why it can be so hard to sit still: The world never stops changing.
The Two of Horns is a bit of a stalker card on this Substack. It has turned up over and over again, far more often than any other card.
I don’t think any of us need reminding that the world is full of constant change.
But what does bear repeating is that it’s OK if we just ride those waves of change and go with the flow. This card in particular tells us that those changes will balance out, and we don’t need to panic and try to stop the motion.
Anyone who has ever been on a ship can tell you that it takes a while to get your sea legs, to learn to shift with the motion so you maintain your balance.
The best way to do that is to stand still.
This week’s cards are a reminder that sometimes, progress comes in the in-between moments, in the times we hold still and rest.
So take this opportunity to breathe and hold steady. We don’t know what next week will bring. But for right now, let’s give ourselves a little space.

I've often heard that in moments of crisis, like a car crash for example, time appears to slow right down and enables people to respond in an appropriate way. As we're living car crash kind of world at the moment, this is sound advice.
Thank you, as always. x
