This week's Minoan Tarot cards:
Six of Labryses: Finally, things are moving, and that's a relief. Whether this is literal travel or figurative motion, perhaps a change in mindset, it's good news and gives you a little breathing room.
Ten of Horns: Congratulations - you have achieved some of your goals! Sometimes we're so busy, we forget to look around and see how far we've come. Take a moment to acknowledge the many ways in which you have succeeded.
This week’s cards are pretty upbeat, and I’m thankful for that. Given everything that’s going on in the Big World, I think we could all use some positive thoughts. As I announced earlier this year, instead of just drawing cards to see what’s out there, I’m aiming to help us all find some inner strength and joy so we can ride the waves of these Interesting Times.
Speaking of riding the waves, our first card this week is all about motion. I find this a little amusing, since I just got home from traveling to PhoenixPhyre, a delightful pagan festival in Florida (USA).
But the motion the Six of Labyrses talks about isn’t necessarily physical movement. Yes, it might mean travel or even moving to a new home. And thankfully, the underlying message of the card is that this motion is a positive addition to your life, maybe even a fresh start.
But that fresh start might also come about from a change in mindset or worldview; maybe you now realize or understand something that you didn’t before. This doesn’t mean sudden and immediate bliss, but it is a positive change. Maybe it gives you a little figurative breathing room and lets you move forward in ways you weren’t able to do before. It’s amazing how looking at life differently can open up new avenues for growth.
I don’t know about you, but I’ll take every little bit of positivity I can find these days. When the ever-present negativity of the Big World encroaches, it can be hard to remember that it’s not all awful. There are still points of light, glimmers of hope, joys large and small throughout our lives. Let’s hold onto those as best we can, and share them with each other.
Our second card for this week, the Ten of Horns, also points to some good things: specifically, our successes.
In the effort to get through daily life, we sometimes forget to step back and look at the bigger picture: how far we’ve come, how strong we’ve become, how well we’ve done.
The Ten of Horns puts a spotlight on all the things we’ve done well and succeeded at. So take some time this week to identify your successes, large and small, and appreciate yourself for achieving them.
Honestly, I think the small successes may be more meaningful in the long run than the big ones. The small successes accumulate in ways that make our daily lives more enjoyable and fulfilling, all day, every day.
The big successes (promotions, graduations, etc.) are certainly important, but once the fanfare is over, you’re back to your regular life again. And it’s in that regular life that you can focus on your smaller successes and realize just how far you’ve come over the years.
One of my small successes that I’m celebrating this morning: As I was packing for our trip last week, I figured out a new method of organizing and stowing all the stuff — and it’s always a lot of stuff, since I run workshops and rituals, so I have to have all the materials and supplies for those in addition to all the usual travel gear. So while we were at the event, I had an easier time finding what I needed. And when we got home, it was much simpler to unpack and put things away. I felt far less overwhelmed with the task than I have in the past.
That may not sound like a big deal, but looking back, it made a huge difference in my enjoyment of the event, and now it’s making the unpacking, laundry, and other practical tasks much less onerous.
What successes, large or small, can you celebrate this week? If you’re comfortable sharing, put them in the comments so we can all help celebrate you!

I'm celebrating meeting my MS deadline (for you!) before I went away last week... It felt so good to draw a line under that first draft, and I'm sure it helped me switch off completely. Something, as a writer, I usually struggle with.
You're readings have been very helpful. I look forward to them every week. I've weathered a rather nasty headcold and chest infection which is a great relief. I've also have gained more clarity with regard to my spiritual path and treasure the beautiful works of artists and the nourishment they give to the world.
