Welp, we’ve got a pair of Majors again this week. I guess Big Things are afoot — it certainly does feel like the Big World is shifting and shaking up a bit. And those energies are liable to affect us ordinary mortals as well, in our daily lives, our relationships, our work, and our encounters with the larger world.
If you’re like me, it’s challenging to maintain calm and focus lately. You’ve probably heard the joke: Come on, inner peace, I don’t have all day! There are some very real problems and concerns for many of us right now.
So I want to be clear: Today’s cards aren’t saying there’s nothing to be worried about. There clearly is.
However… sometimes worries and anxiety can snowball in our minds and tilt our ability to reason off balance. That’s not something any of us can control, really. It’s a reflex, a subconscious reaction to the overwhelm many of us are feeling right now. And it’s perfectly understandable. But it does make it harder to see clearly.
What The Moon card is saying today, I think, is to look closely at those anxious thoughts and identify the ones that are incorrect or out of proportion. It’s easy to extrapolate in the wrong direction when you’re worried (ask me how I know this). And it’s easy to catastrophize long before the situation has actually reached catastrophic levels.
So if you can, take some time to tease your way through the worries and find the ones that aren’t solid, that don’t hold up to inspection, that are built on some kind of false premise.
Because they’re throwing a shadow on what you really need to see right now.
And hopefully, what’s behind that shadow can help you keep moving forward despite everything.
One thing that helps keep me steady is my spirituality. Today’s second card, The Adept, points to spirituality as a guide through the chaos, a support and a comfort.
It doesn’t matter what you believe, whether you belong to any kind of formal religious organization, or how you practice.
What matters is that you do something that has deep meaning for you, that keeps you grounded and centered and steady — and that can bring you back to that state every time the Big World knocks you sideways.
If you already have a spiritual practice, it’s time to lean into it even more. If you’re still exploring, this week may offer you some insights and epiphanies about the path that will help you the most.
Listen to your inner voice and let it draw you down the path of spiritual discovery, to the face of your own inner divinity.
I wish you a week of peace and inspiration.
This week's cards:
The Moon: Anxiety and phobias are clouding your judgment and making it difficult to think clearly. This can make it difficult, if not impossible, to believe in yourself and trust your own inner voice. Your task is to identify the false ideas that are misdirecting you so you can see your way clearly again.
The Adept: Find the divine within yourself and let that voice guide you. Whether or not you belong to any organized spiritual tradition, the depths of spiritual practice will give you what you need to balance the forces in your life.

My deck arrived over the past weekend. I am anxious to begin work with It. I have been getting to know the cards and hopefully building a relationship. I am looking forward to the work to come ✨😞
Well, I feel I have to say a few words in defence of the moon. Sadly, it has become established practice to interpret the moon card in a negative way. As far as I'm concerned, the moon reminds to get in touch with our instincts. After all, it regulates fertility cycles of all living beings, including women. It invites us to make a shift from our heads to our abdomen or hara, which is our natural point of equilibrium. Over here in our Western industrialised culture we have been trained to live our life in our heads, and this makes us top heavy. It's perfect that the moon and the moon goddess appear together. This is the call of the goddess to listen to our instincts and and get in touch with our deeply held emotions. It's not a time for rationality but for reflection on the deep mysteries of life. Our dreams can be very vivid, especially under the influence of the full moon. We need to heed what they reveal to us as they reach places the rational mind could never reach.
