I’m so glad through the winding maze of Pinterest I found my way to your writing. I’m excited to read this book. Birds and ritual are my niche! Thanks for the recommendation.
Laura, that's a great review – clear and affirmative. Ben will be pleased, I imagine. I like that you draw out the so many repeating patterns and interconnections. I read the ms and would have found it hard to describe; you've done that perfectly.
This: 'Instead of science refuting spirituality, as the argument is often made these days, in this book science supports spirituality.' Perfect.
Thanks! I really enjoyed it. The book will go in my permanent collection, and I've recommended it to my Ariadne's Tribe folx as well, since birds figure prominently in our lore.
Fascinating...that's a must-read for me! I'm not a practising Christian any more, but I follow Unvirtuous Abbey on Facebook; they post beautiful bird pictures as manifestations of the female Holy Spirit. As you know, I also have connections with some Minoan deities and especially feel close to swallows (Therasia's bird) in Crete
I think you would really enjoy this one. His research is meticulous, and his writing is fascinating. And yes, he addresses the longstanding practice of representing the Holy Spirit as a bird.
Thank you for this interesting review. I'll check this book out.
