I’m excited to get to attend Mystic South again this year; I’ll be presenting a paper and running a ritual, both with Minoan themes (no surprise there). The paper is about a unique and controversial symbol found in Minoan art, and the ritual will be a joyful celebration of the Ariadne’s Tribe deities, especially Thumia and Kaulo, and our embodied life as humans. There will be bells and tambourines involved!
Mystic South is a hotel-based Pagan conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and it’s one of my favorite events to attend. The people are friendly and accepting, the organizers really know their stuff, and the schedule is designed so there’s plenty of time between workshops so you can tend to those ever-present physical needs like food and restroom breaks.
Honestly, although I enjoy being a presenter, the main reason I go to Mystic South is so I can attend everyone else’s workshops. There are so many great choices, and I love that the focus is regional, since magic and Earth-oriented spirituality take different forms in different places. I always wish I had a time machine so I could attend multiple workshops in the same time slot!
Among all the festivities, I’ll be getting together with five of my fellow Moon Books authors: Pauline Breen, Morgan Daimler, Mark NeCamp, Taren S., and Daniela Simina (alphabetical by last name, no preference implied - they’re all amazing authors!).
We’ll be having a meet-and-greet during Mystic South, in the House of Witchcraft hospitality suite from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon during the conference… so please stop by and say hi!
In preparation for our get-together, I’m reading the other MB authors’ books - and sharing my reviews with you, of course. I’ve already reviewed several of Morgan Daimler’s books here, here, here and here. I’ll post my reviews of the other authors’ books as I get them written, which means that some of them will probably come out after the conference. But I promise I’ll get to them all.
I hope I’ll see you at Mystic South next month!
Sadly you won't see me there as it is too far to travel from the UK and I don't fly for environmental reasons. Hope you have a wonderful time!
This year I am retiring and hope to attend soon.
