I’ve mentioned before that I don’t read reversed cards anymore with my Minoan Tarot deck. I did when I first created the deck. In fact, I developed a specific reversed meaning for each card.
Then the cards made it very clear that I needed to stop reading reversals, at least in my own Tarot work. What other people do with their cards is, obviously, very much up to them.
So I quit reading reversals, and I turned all the cards the same direction, shuffling carefully to keep them that way.
But every now and then, one card will turn itself around - how, I don’t know, but it happens. I usually take that to mean I should make an exception and read a reversal just the once.
That’s usually a straightforward procedure, since the reversed meanings are already set and fully explained in the companion book.
However… today there were shenanigans.
When I drew today’s cards, one of them was reversed. Fair enough. I did the reading, bearing in mind the reversed meaning of the first card, and meditated on them for a few minutes.
Then I went to take the photo to share online, laying the cards out with one of them reversed and one upright. The camera wouldn’t work. First it wouldn’t focus, then it did all kinds of weird things with the color and the exposure. I switched to the second camera app on my phone and got the same results.
Clearly I wasn’t supposed to share the reversal with you all.
So I turned the suspect card the other way round, so they were both upright, and hey presto! The camera worked properly, and I got the photo you see up top.
I’m going to take a guess that the reversal was meant just for me, even though the reading on the whole is meant for the community, as it is every Monday when I draw cards and share them. The reading with the reversal makes sense to me given some healing spirit work I did over the weekend; in fact, it puts a nice finish on it, giving me some good closure. I’m grateful for that.
So here’s the final reading, the “official” version if you will, with both cards upright. As usual, they offer some prescient advice, but today it’s nothing earth-shattering, just simple common-sense wisdom.
Today's Minoan Tarot cards:
Priestess of Rhytons: Embodying the heart-led life. Allow your empathy and your intuition to take their rightful place in your life. Your heartfelt warmth and your ability to take other people's emotions seriously help provide a safe environment for the people around you to be their true selves. This is a valuable aspect of your being. Honor it accordingly.
Seven of Horns: Be practical and prudent with the material aspects of your life. That can be difficult at this time of year, since extravagance is so fashionable. But being careful and responsible now will give you a much brighter and more enjoyable future.
I hope you all have a lovely week!
Ah! I sometimes have shenanigans like this with the runes...
