Today’s Minoan Tarot cards have some good advice. That’s the thing about Tarot: it’s usually good advice, even if it’s not what I want to hear.
Does that happen to you? You turn over some cards, and they say wise things that annoy you just a little?
Today, for instance. I know none of us can really accomplish anything alone. But modern western culture has this ridiculous myth of individualism, the lone person working their way to success. And no matter how hard I’ve tried over the years, sometimes that little voice still whispers in my ear that I should be able to do everything without help.
Of course, having help means listening to what others say and (usually) compromising with them to reach the common goal. I made a point of organizing Ariadne’s Tribe that way because to me, it felt like the only healthy way to run a spiritual tradition. And I’ve had all kinds of help, from small to large, in other facets of my life, both public and private.
But there are days when I just want to plow ahead and “get ‘er done” without having to stop and listen to what anyone else has to say.
That’s when the cards step in to remind me that the wisest choice really is to shut up and listen. Because often, other people have helpful viewpoints. They have knowledge I don’t.
And it’s not actually a failure to have help. It’s a sign that you’re part of a community. And that’s a blessing.
Today’s cards:
Three of Horns: Cooperation and compromise. This is the "it takes a village" card - not just to raise children but also to achieve business success, to grow a spiritual community, and so many other aspects of life. Don't try to do it alone. You may be afraid you'll have to compromise instead of being completely in charge, but sometimes that's the only way to move forward.
Five of Daggers: Unexpected complications and obstacles in a project or situation that's already underway. This isn't a permanent situation; you will move forward again. But you need to take an honest look at the situation first. Taken together with the previous card, this suggests that your frustrations will be relieved if you give in and compromise with others, allowing things to move forward.
As we say in the Tribe, together we are joy!
I love your take on things. Thanks!
