This is one of a long-term series of posts about Ariadne’s Tribe style inclusive Minoan spirituality. Some of these posts, including this one, are revised and updated versions of older articles that I wrote over on the Minoan Path blog. I’m moving the content over here in an effort to consolidate my writing on a single platform. All my new Minoan Path blog posts can be found here.
This week I’m headed to Mystic South in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) where I’ll be presenting a paper and leading a labyrinth-walking ritual. So this post is a bit on the short side.
It’s no secret that the names of the Minoan deities can be tongue-twisters for a lot of people. When I do interviews, I often have to help the hosts figure out how to pronounce “Ariadne” so they can introduce me as the founder of Ariadne’s Tribe.
People I talk with regularly trip over many of the deity names or ask how to pronounce them.
Recently, a Tribe member noted that they had been mispronouncing a deity name pretty badly until they heard me say it in an online chat.
I’ve included pronunciation for the deity names in my books, but for some reason it hadn’t occurred to me to add them to these posts. My apologies for the oversight.
So now, I’ve (finally) added pronunciations for all the deity names (we have a lot of them!) in this post:
I’ve also added either deity name pronunciations or links to the above post in a number of other posts, so the information is easy to find.
After all, if we’re going to call on these deities, we need to be able to say their names well and sweetly.
I’m not planning to paywall my Substack, but if my work has meaning and value for you, please consider dropping a little something in my tip jar at Ko-Fi. Thank you!
You can find my books here and my art here and here. I do apologize, but due to unpleasant activity from trolls, I’ve had to limit comments to subscribers only. I hope you understand.

Oh my pronunciation! Thank you for sharing. Enjoy Mystic South✨
They're all such beautiful names and taste yummy (yes, I know I'm not neurotypical) when I pronounce them :) Thanks for sharing this, Laura!
