My first priestess required me to memorize the official meanings of all the cards in the Waite-Smith Tarot deck but eventually taught me how to read intuitively. I’ve preferred intuitive readings ever since.
Then I started designing my own Tarot deck.
I dithered for weeks over how to organize the card meanings. I didn’t want to leave people hanging - many folx read based on the official card meanings, so I owed them some well-thought-out answers.
Eventually I worked out a system where I started with the meaning of the corresponding Waite-Smith card, went into meditation, and clarified the meaning of the card in the Minoan Tarot, for both upright and reversed positions.
Many of them turned out to match the Waite-Smith meanings pretty closely. Some were very different.
When I pull the cards for these weekly readings, I read intuitively. Sometimes my reading matches the meanings in the companion book pretty closely. Other times, not so much.
Today, it’s a fairly close match.
Ten of Labryses: Things are falling apart. The way you thought the situation was turns out to be wrong. This might be painful, but you're turning a corner now and stepping into a more realistic worldview. It can be hard to deal with, but this situation really is for the best. You'll be able to move forward more easily now.
Lady of Daggers: Pay attention to your standards. Are you being more critical of yourself and others than necessary? No one is perfect. Trying to find all the rules of life and strictly abide by them is the mark of fundamentalism. Cut yourself, and everyone else, some slack. We're all just doing our best.
I hope you all have a lovely week!
