We like to joke about the cards calling us out or stalking us. But sometimes, they’re just telling us what we already knew but didn’t want to face.
My first priestess, for all her faults, was a powerful Tarot reader. But she didn’t believe in doing readings for yourself, only for others. When I asked her why, she said, “Ask your question then figure out what you don’t want the answer to be.” Then you don’t need to lay down any cards.
The implication, of course, was that when we’re reading for ourselves, we’re trying to get an apparently external source (the cards) to validate the answer we want rather than the one we already know is true.
That is sometimes the case; I won’t argue that.
But other times, we do need clarity that we can’t get through reflection and contemplation. Sometimes, the best way to talk to our inner selves, or deity, or our ancestors or spirit guides, is through a tool like Tarot cards.
This week’s cards:
Ten of Labryses: Some situations and people turn out not to be what you thought they were. This is an uncomfortable experience, but you now have valuable information that helps you see the world around you more clearly. Learn from this experience, because it's likely you knew the truth on some level and didn't want to face it. That's a perfectly human response, but being honest with yourself will prevent similar problems from happening again.
Seven of Daggers: Life is challenging you right now, maybe in the form of other people or perhaps in the form of life experiences and situations. Either way, you're being asked to draw on your inner strength, your passion, and your belief in yourself. Now is the time to persevere, to let yourself be as big and powerful as you know you really are. Then you'll get to where you want to go.
The Minoan Tarot is an 86-card deck I created, with art I drew and painted by hand in the style of the ancient Minoan frescoes. The court cards are gender balanced, and the deck comes in a beautiful box along with a full-color 176-page companion book. The Minoan Tarot website offers photos of many of the cards as well as more details about the deck. It took me three years to create the artwork for the deck; I hope it offers you a lifetime of enjoyment!
that's highly pertinent, thank you.
