Inclusive Minoan Spirituality, Tarot, Book Reviews, and General Ramblings
Welcome!
My name is Laura Perry. You might know me as “the Minoan Lady.” I’m the founder and Temple Mom of Ariadne’s Tribe, an inclusive Minoan spiritual tradition. The Tribe is a polytheist, animist tradition that’s open to everyone who shares our love for the Minoan deities and respect for their fellow human beings.
But I do a lot of other things, too.
First of all, I’m an artist and a writer. While a lot of my art and writing focuses on the Minoans, I’ve also written general Pagan non-fiction as well as magical fiction that (gasp) has nothing whatsoever to do with the Minoans.
I’m also a longtime gardener, herbalist, and living history demonstrator. I’m especially fond of pre-industrial skills like weaving, spinning, and hearth cooking. These activities fold back into my spiritual practice as ways to connect with the ancient cultures that inspire modern Paganism as well as with my ancestors of blood and spirit.
What will you find in this Substack?
Minoan Goodies: I’ll share my posts from the Minoan Path blog here since many people aren’t interested in RSS feeds anymore. And because you all are such lovely people, I’ll include a little extra background info here beyond just what’s in each blog post. I’m also liable to share other Minoan-themed content, like this amazing crocheted Snake Goddess and the chants, book readings, and other original Minoan-themed content I post to my YouTube channel - always with a little extra background info, the story behind the story, so to speak. Much of my Minoan content is also pertinent to people with other interests in and around the Pagan community.
Tarot: Once a week, I draw cards from my Minoan Tarot deck and share them along with an interpretation for the upcoming week. I also sometimes share other decks that friends have created and other Tarot-themed content. When I take on new Tarot projects, I’ll share them here, too.
Book Reviews: I’m not just a writer; I’m also a reader, and I write book reviews, mainly of self-published and small press books, because those can always use more exposure. The subjects tend to revolve around Paganism/polytheism, historical and magical fiction, and related topics. I only review books that I’ve enjoyed. If I didn’t enjoy a book, that might simply be because it wasn’t to my taste, and I’m not going to dim someone else’s light that way. Writers have enough trouble these days in the loud and crowded marketplace. I aim to be a help, not a hindrance to my fellow writers.
Other Content: Bits and bobs that don’t fit under any of the categories above. Like general Paganism that doesn’t fit neatly under the umbrella of Minoan spirituality. Or this Author Twenty Questions list, interviews and podcasts, the occasional rambling about odd life situations (like friends not recognizing me when I started wearing glasses!), and some of the gardening and living history activities I do.
You’ll generally hear from me about twice a week on here. So if you’re interested, I invite you to subscribe. Once you’ve subscribed, you can customize which subjects you do and don’t receive in your email here. And you can unsubscribe at any time.
Thanks for joining me. I look forward to our journey in each other’s company. Together we are joy!
