This week's Minoan Tarot cards:
Priest of Rhytons: Manifest the qualities of Water in your life. Lean into long-term relationships, and not just romantic ones. Encourage and support those around you. Lead with empathy and warmth.
Eight of Horns: Focus on the skills you've developed over the years and finding satisfaction in them. The activities you've worked toward mastering are an integral and valuable part of yourself.
As I announced last week, I’m approaching my weekly two-card draw slightly differently now that these Interesting Times have become even more interesting. So until further notice, the first card (the one I draw from the top of the deck) will focus on how to deal with whatever life throws at us for the week. And the second card (the one I draw from the bottom of the deck) will be the “secret treasure” to help us find joy and keep on keepin’ on.
This week, we have an interesting combination of elements that make perfect sense to me. Note that the Minor Arcana in my Minoan Tarot deck are color-coded for the elements, so it’s easy to remember what’s what: Water is blue, Earth is green, Fire is red, and Air is yellow.
First up is the Priest of Rhytons. This card is all about manifesting the Water element of your life in an outward way. Water is all about emotions and relationships. It’s about staying heart-open, even (especially) when the going gets tough.
Staying connected with each other, both literally and figuratively, is vital to our emotional and mental health and well-being.
No one is an island, as the saying goes. Hold tight to your people. Let them know you love them. Check in on them regularly. Help them when you can, and let them know when you need help. We’ll get through these interesting times together — that’s the way people have always done it. It’s how our ancestors survived the interesting times of their own eras, so we could be here today.
Now on to the second card, the Secret Treasure that will help us find joy.
This week it’s an Earth card, which suggests that it can help us stay grounded. But more than that, the Eight of Horns points us toward the skills we’ve mastered, the things we can do well.
Everyone has something they do well, whether it’s cook a meal or write a story or build a table or program a computer or sing a song.
So lean into those activities that you’re accomplished at. In addition to the satisfaction these things have probably always given you, right now they can also provide a sense of comfort and control. They’re familiar territory that you’re in charge of (unlike the Big World).
So it’s with an open heart and Hands of Skill (I’m a professional writer, after all) that I wish you peace and joy this week, wherever you can find it. We’ll get through this together.

Very true indeed! We need to remember that we're spiritual beings who have chosen to experience life in the physical world (What possessed us?) and what we're witnessing now is a play that's gone haywire! I'd call it a tragic comedy if it wasn't for real.
What a wonderful distraction and words of wisdom to awaken to this morning. Thank you. And I hadn't noticed the color coding. Appreciate that you emphasized that.
