I don’t know about you, but my experience with Tarot is that the cards rarely suggest conventional thinking. Maybe that’s because that’s how many of us normally do things, on mental “cruise control” if you will, so we don’t need to be pointed to it. But clearly, sometimes we need to be pushed out of that rut in order to get to where we want to go.
So it is with this week’s cards.
Funnily enough, I have a couple of difficult-to-solve issues hanging over my head, one of them personal and the other creative/professional. I’ve been going round and round with them for several weeks, trying multiple options, some of which I thought were pretty imaginative.
Clearly not imaginative enough.
There’s a difference between pushing the boundaries of common-sense thinking and stepping outside those boundaries altogether. I guess it’s time to step outside.
I don’t know about you, but for me, that takes a huge amount of trust (that the whole situation won’t just cave in, that I’m not being incredibly stupid). And that’s exactly what the Fool points us toward: trust in yourself, trust in the universe, trust that you have what you need to find the best solution.
Easier said than done, right?
Knowing how to do a thing and actually doing it are two different matters entirely.
I think the Fool is probably my favorite Tarot card, regardless of how it’s represented in different decks. I love the concept of end-as-beginning and beginning-as-end, the universe looping around on itself Ourobouros-style.
Despite appearances, life isn’t linear. Our thinking doesn’t always need to be linear either.

This week’s cards:
The Fool: Allow yourself to trust in the universe. You have, and you are, all that you need. The Fool represents both the beginning and the end, a reminder that life is not linear but cyclical. Drop the "should" and the "ought to" and allow yourself to be who you really are. That's where you'll find the real meaning in life and the answers to your questions.
Lady of Labryses: Whatever apparently unsolvable issue or problem you're faced with, try stepping outside the constraints of common knowledge and accepted wisdom to find a unique solution. This is the best path to a workable solution. Don't just think outside the box; reject the box entirely.

Trust is such a hard one but then it too often resides outside the box
I have been trying to resolve an issue in the conventional and most obvious way… 🤔
