I’m back from a whirlwind weekend at Mystic South. I always have an amazing time, but this year was so busy, and there were so many things I wanted to do, people to meet with, workshops to attend - I wished I had a time machine!
I’m slowly shifting back into my usual at-home routines, starting with sharing the week’s Minoan Tarot cards (much more fun than the mountain of laundry that awaits me once I’ve finished unpacking! lol).
It was fun to get away from the Big World and focus on magical and spiritual things for a while. But I can also do magical and spiritual things right here at home! Today’s cards are a gentle reminder that how we view our lives, our preconceived notions of what is and isn’t possible, can either hem us in or offer us opportunities. That’s magical and spiritual, right there.
It’s really easy, especially when we’re weighed down by the bad stuff that’s happening in the Big World (and sometimes in our own lives), to narrow our assumptions about what’s possible in the here and now. It’s easy to feel boxed in; it’s harder to recognize the ways in which we’re not boxed in, harder to find the “secret passages” to where we want to go.
It’s also really easy to lean into victim-blaming, of ourselves and others. There’s a lot of that in our culture. We should be aware of it and do our best to avoid it. Life throws stuff at us, and we do our best, but we’re only human. As my grandmother used to say when the wild chaos of life managed to bullseye us, ain’t nobody perfect. It ain’t nobody’s fault. (Mind you, large-scale issues like genocide, warfare, human rights violations… I think we can find people who are at fault for those. But that’s a rant for another day.)
So allow yourself, and those around you, the space for “we’re all doing the best we can.” Then take a breath and see if you can expand your view to find angles you hadn’t noticed before that will help you get where you want to go.
This week, I’m going to try focusing on seeing the opportunities I hadn’t picked up on before and fanning the flames of creativity and passion.
How about you?
This week’s cards:
Eight of Labryses: You're not actually stuck, cornered, or out of options. The real restriction in this situation is your thinking. You may be having trouble seeing the situation clearly because of anxiety or pre-conceived notions, both of which can make it hard to see clearly. Focus on finding the cause of your troubled or rigid thinking, and you'll be able to see the solution to your problem.
Priestess of Daggers: Live your embodied Fire! Let the Fire within you - your passion, warmth, and creativity - nourish you and inspire those around you. Your example and your infectious energy resonate in others, warming the heart of the world. Glow a little!
My Substack is free, but if you’d like to support my work, you can find the Minoan Tarot here, my books here and my art here and here. Restack and share if you feel so inclined - I appreciate it!

Your reading clearly reflects how different factions see the world so differently. Some see only restriction, are full of fear and exclusion, others see humanity evolving and are full of hope. Both can be true I guess depending the bubble you create for yourself.
Yep. Spot on again. Thank you.
Glad you had a good time.
