How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
I’ve spent much of my spiritual life eating metaphorical elephants, it seems. Creating a Tarot deck from scratch, building a spiritual community, and developing a workable ritual format and pantheon for that community are high on the list of projects I plunged into without thinking about how enormous the task was going to end up being.
Naiveté has its benefits, I suppose, since I probably would have run away screaming from all of those projects if I had realized how massive each of them really was.
I’m very glad I dug in and did the work. In fact, I’m still doing the work, aided and supported by a beautiful global online village of people who are every bit as interested in Minoan spirituality as I am.
They keep me going, even when I want to quit (which thankfully isn’t very often).
There’s no way I could do this alone, and I’m grateful for each and every person who has helped build our community, including those who have shared their personal gnosis as well as those who have shared their expertise and insight in a variety of fields, from archaeology to comparative mythology to dance ethnology.
It took us a long time to discover all the threads of myth and folklore that led to each of our beloved deities. After a full decade of work, we finally have a complete pantheon that we’re satisfied with, which is really exciting!
It makes our spiritual practice feel that much more solid, so much more real.
And of course, it means loose ends to tie up. So I’m working my way through the list of our deities and making sure I’ve written an explanatory article about each one. Today’s Minoan Path blog post is about two mythical characters who turn out to be Minoan deities: Meet the Minoans: Daedalus, Talos, and their micropantheon
I’m also delighted to share that I have a book coming out next year in the Moon Books Pantheons series, focusing of course on the Minoan deities. I turned in the manuscript in June, and the book is in production now. I’ll share the release date and other details (including the finished cover - it’s going to be so pretty!) as soon as they’re available. It will be a great intro to the Minoan pantheon for people who want to learn more but don’t know where to start.
And then I’m sure there will be more elephants to eat, one bite at a time.
That’s fine. I’m always hungry! lol
