Apologies for the lateness of today’s Minoan Tarot cards. Mercury retrograde hit me squarely in the laptop - computer, that is. And sadly, Substack doesn’t have post-writing functionality on the phone app, so I had to wait until I had access to a functional laptop to share these with you.
Which is kind of funny, considering that the first card I drew was Fate (the Wheel of Fortune in the Waite-Smith deck). In my artwork above, you can see the Fate Goddess holding her drop spindle, spinning the thread of fate on it. The weight near the bottom of the spindle, where the finished yarn is wound on, is called the spindle whorl. It is essentially a wheel, and it turns like any wheel as she spins the yarn.
I’m feeling a bit run over by that wheel right now! lol
I suspect a lot of us are feeling a bit run over these days, what with the insanity of the Big World and the cosmic excitement of eclipses and so on. But these things happen. Life is full of cycles of quiet alternating with frenzy, peace alternating with chaos.
Sometimes the cycles are predictable; a lot of the time, they’re not.
Part of what we do with divination, like drawing Tarot cards, is to feel some measure of control over what’s coming at us. Because the universe is big, and interconnected in ways we can sense but can’t really see.
Today’s cards are a reminder that we can’t control the future, and that’s OK. We can’t do everything and hold onto everything. That incessant tight grip isn’t actually helpful.
What we can do is take a breath and learn to roll with it. Just like sailors learn to walk steadily on a rocking ship’s deck, we can get our “sea legs” and learn to balance gently, loosely, through everything that life throws at us to rock the boat.
Because that metaphorical ocean with its big waves isn’t our enemy. It’s the cosmos that we’re an integral, beloved part of.
Today’s cards for your upcoming week:
Fate: Stuff's happening, probably pretty big stuff, and the most important thing you can do is accept that and allow yourself to flow along with the changes. It's not actually random, although it may appear that way from a human perspective. And it will ultimately offer you opportunities that wouldn't have been available without this level of change.
Five of Labryses: It's time to let go of the things you've been holding onto too tightly. This includes trying to do too much and be everything to everyone. You've been attempting the impossible. It's time to admit that and reel your expectations back into the realm of the possible and the practical.
The Minoan Tarot is an 86-card deck I created, with art I drew and painted by hand in the style of the ancient Minoan frescoes. The court cards are gender balanced, and the deck comes in a beautiful presentation box along with a full-color 176-page companion book. The Minoan Tarot website offers photos of many of the cards as well as more details about the deck. It took me three years to create the artwork for the deck; I hope it offers you a lifetime of enjoyment!
Perfect reading for the present energy we're all subjected to..!
